How Hopfare finds cheaper flights
Most booking sites search one airline at a time. We search differently — checking every combination of fares so you always see the cheapest option, even when it means mixing airlines or airports.
You tell us where you want to go
Enter your origin, destination, and dates. You don't need to know which airline — that's our job. You can also search open-jaw routes or leave the destination blank to explore deals from your home airport.
We run the split-fare engine
While other sites check one round-trip price, we simultaneously search for outbound one-way fares and return one-way fares from multiple providers — then compare every combination. On many routes, buying two separate one-way tickets beats the round-trip price.
We check nearby airports automatically
Flying to New York? We check JFK, LGA, and EWR — and mix them. Maybe it's cheaper to fly into Newark and back from JFK. We find that so you don't have to. The same applies to London (LHR/LGW), Paris (CDG/ORY), Chicago (ORD/MDW), and dozens more metro pairs.
You see the real cheapest option, ranked
Results are sorted by total price — not by what earns us the most commission. The split-fare winner is clearly labeled so you understand exactly what you're booking: outbound on one airline, return on another.
You book directly with the airline or agency
We never sell tickets or take a cut of the fare. When you click 'Book', you go straight to the airline or a booking partner's site. Your transaction is with them, protected by their guarantees and your card's purchase protection.
No fees, ever
Hopfare is free to use. We may earn a small referral commission from booking partners when you click through — this never affects the prices you see or the order results appear in.
Why split fares are often cheaper
Airlines price round-trips and one-ways completely independently. A round-trip on British Airways from New York to London might cost $742 — but a one-way on Norse Atlantic going out plus a one-way on British Airways coming back might cost $548. That's a $194 saving for the exact same trip.
This happens because low-cost carriers (Norse Atlantic, PLAY, ZipAir, Spirit, Frontier) often sell outbound one-ways at a steep discount to compete for customers, but don't offer return flights at the same price. A traditional booking site would never surface this combination — it only compares round-trips on one airline at a time.
The trade-off: with split tickets you have two separate bookings. If your outbound flight is delayed and you miss your return, the return airline has no obligation to rebook you. We always show this disclaimer clearly so you can decide if the savings are worth it for your trip.
